Coming Over For The Winter?

The winter period is the perfect time to see the mountains in all their glory meaning they will be covered in snow! Snow boarding and Skiing is awesome in New Zealand. Cardrona near Wanaka, The Remarkables in Queenstown and Whakapapa in the middle of the North Island are just a few of the many ski areas available. The Ski Season tends to run between June and October around the country. Just 40 minutes North of Auckland you can find New Zealand’s only indoor snow planet, the perfect place to practice all year round.

Whilst on our Working Holiday we hit the slopes for the first ever time snow boarding in Whakapapa Snow field. The weather was absolutely amazing, as you can see in the images we are casually walking around in our t shirts! Being our first time out there on the boards things got a little tricky, that's for sure. Expect to fall over A LOT! After a few hours of hard training you should have the skills to glide along nicely without falling and be able to control yourself to stop.

Vicki loving it out there in the Beginners area of Whakapapa Snow Field. With a very slight down hill gradient this is a highly recommended area for anyone out there wishing to try skiing or snow boarding for the first time

If it isn't Mr Cool himself!

There is a few options when it comes to buying your tickets, for that little bit extra we opted for the full mountain pass which gives you full access to all areas including New Zealand's highest Cafe!

The views from the gondola are insane! Although we only practiced snow boarding in the beginner's area which is at the lowest point it was still worth while paying that extra to climb to the top and watch the pro's whilst taking in the epic views.

At over a staggering 2,000m Knoll Ridge Cafe is the highest Restaurant in New Zealand. The prices in there weren't too bad either for the location.
