The North Island
The North Island has a warmer climate overall compared to the south. Highlights include the amazing Northland beaches and massive sand dunes, Waitomo glow worm caves and the volcanic activity all around the center of the island.
The South Island
The mountains here are much bigger and dominate the majority of the island. It can get cooler than up north but the dramatic landscapes make up for that. Snow capped peaks, impressive lakes and glaciers are just a few of the many highlights.
